I have been playing tennis since I was 6 years old. It started off as just being a leisure sport. I would play for fun, but my freshman year changed my approach to the sport. In my freshman year, I was 8th on JV and at the end of the season, I was playing 1st on JV. I decided then I was going to work as hard as I could during the off-season to make varsity. I watched professionals play all the time and studied their footwork and how they moved to improve my game. I’ve never had a private coach and have always learned new skills on my own and practiced them to the best of my ability. In my sophomore year, I ended up being 4th on varsity and was selected to play singles and doubles and was the only sophomore on varsity and was the youngest player on a team that went to state. Sophomore year I would play up to 4 hours a day, coming home from varsity practice to eat dinner then go hit more to improve my game.
Similarly, I work hard in my classes to try and maintain a 4.0 GPA and am currently in 3 college classes. I am a leader in two clubs at my high school and have over 50 volunteer hours coaching young tennis players. Tennis is my passion, and I enjoy pushing myself to be the best I can be, and I want to play competitively as long as possible.
