My name is Kira Winter. I am a 5'4 singles player from Eliot, Maine. I have been playing tennis since I was four, and started playing competitively at age 7. Since I began playing tennis, I've always wanted to play in college. I work hard during my high school season, and all year, on and off the court to better myself as a player and as a person. My greatest strengths on the court are my serve, my forehand, my reaction time, my hand eye coordination, my quick decision making and my ability to tailor a match to the type of player I am up against.
I started playing on my school's varsity tennis team when I was in 6th grade. I began as #3 singles and worked my way up to #1 singles my 8th grade year, and continue to hold that spot, occasionally playing #1 doubles, when needed. Throughout my entire career, I have always played up, with players at least four years older than me. This experience has pushed me to train and work harder so I can compete against older players.
I want to go to a college where I can competitively play and train at a level that is going to push me to be the best player I can be. I also want a school that will challenge me academically as well, so I can be the best student I can be. As of now, I am interested in going into the medical field, majoring in nursing or pharmacy, and possibly minoring in business and communications.
