Personal Statement
I began playing tennis when I was seven years old. Once I began playing tennis, I fell in love with the sport. I love to work hard and train, whether it's hardcore training with a coach, or just hitting with a friend. I am a very determined and coachable player. I play tennis year round and at multiple local clubs. I have played USTA Team Tennis since 2008. When I first started to play tennis, I liked playing doubles more than singles. Now, I like both equally well. I have played in the first singles position for the Divine Child High School varsity team for the past two years, and I am determined to do so again. I had an 11-7 record my freshman year, and an undefeated record for my sophomore season. I bowed out in the semi-finals at regionals. I have also won the Catholic High School League tournament for the past two years. I put 100% into every point I play and whenever I'm practicing. I remember telling a coach, "Rest is for home, but I play when I'm on the court" when they asked me if I wanted to take a break. Tennis has been a very important part of my life. It has improved my physical and mental abilities. This has also helped me with my studies. I have a 3.67 grade point average and I am taking AP Language and Composition. I always put as much, if not more, effort into my schoolwork as I do with tennis, because I understand that grades are a priority. I aspire to play tennis in college and will continue to work toward that goal.
