Personal Statement
After high school, I have big goals with attending a four year college, and majoring in Biology. I would like to continue my schooling beyond four years, and go to medical school. Playing collegiate-level tennis
I love the game of tennis. I have played for 6 years, and I started playing 4th singles on varsity as a freshman and now I'm currently sitting at #1 singles for varsity. I'm very flexible between doubles and singles. Since freshman year, I have come a long way with my overall skills and level of play. There is still a lot to learn, but I am always ready for it. I feel that I am a good candidate because I have a very driven and dedicated personality, and I'm always striving for tougher competition. I differentiate to other student athletes by always having a set mind of being active. On and off the court I can be a great leader, and I'm always willing to help out new members to my team. While playing a match, I don't show emotions on the court whether I'm winning or losing.
Sophomore year, I received "honorable mention," and I placed 2nd for all-conference. My junior year, I was chosen to be captain, and as well for my upcoming senior year.
Outside of tennis, I live a very active lifestyle. I run half marathons, I competed at age 16 in a figure competition, spend spare time in the gym lifting, and giving tennis lessons to young athletes. An elementary school principal selected me to speak in front of over 600 students/teachers about living a healthy and active lifestyle and why it is important. I have very good relationships with my tennis and track coaches. I think it is very important to stay mentally and physically strong in and out of season.
