Personal Statement
My name is Savannah Carol Smith. I am a junior at West Henderson High School in Hendersonville, North Carolina. I am 5'4'' and weigh 110 pounds. I have been number 1 on the women's varsity tennis team starting as a freshman and going through this year as a junior, along with being on the JV basketball team at West Henderson that went undefeated my freshman season as the point guard. I played on the varsity basketball team my sophomore year along with going into my junior year as the point guard. During tennis I went undefeated in our 3A conference three years in a row and was 16-3 my freshman and sophomore year and I went undefeated my junior season with a record of 19-0. Placed 2nd in regionals and tied for 5th in the state during my Junior year. I earned All Conference honors for 2012, 2013 and 2014. All Region selection 2014, and state participant 2014. Achieved Henderson County player of the year 2013. I received Asheville Citizen Times news WNC Honorable Mention 2013 and have been in the Kiwanis All-Stars in 2012 and 2013. I have an overall 3 year record in singles of 71-12 and a doubles record of 50-14. It is my dream to play tennis in college and I am willing to work hard every day in tennis and academically to make my goals and dreams a reality. I consider myself a leader. I try to show leadership on and off the tennis court. I work hard every time I am on or off the tennis courts whether it be practice, or a match and also in and out of the classroom. Sportsmanship is a big asset that I have, it doesn't matter if I am winning or losing. I also work hard in my classes. I have a 3.9 cumulative GPA and a weighted GPA of 4.125 and I am a member of the National Honors Society. I would like to attend a college that will provide me with an opportunity for academic and athletic challenges. I have not decided on a major yet, but I am interested in business/sports management. My goal is to be an outstanding leader and to become a player that impacts many people on and off the tennis court.
