Hello, my name is Sarahgrace Benson Snipes, SG for short. I am currently a Junior at Whiteville High School, enrolled in all honors classes and college classes at Southeastern Community College. As a Junior, I see the many life choices that are beginning to open up to me. There are various opportunities. One of the opportunities that I have is to play collegiate tennis. In 2012, I entered Whiteville High as a freshman and placed outside of the top 6 players. I view my freshmen year as a learning year. I learned how to improve on my fundamental skills. In 2013, I returned as a sophomore and determined to be seeded in the top 6. Not only did I get seeded in the top 6, but I secured my spot as the number 3 seed. I finished the season with a 9-2 singles record and went on with the #4 seed to play doubles in the 1A Eastern Regional Tournament. The team also finished as the Three Rivers Conference Champions. Now in 2014, I returned as a Junior and even more determined to work on advanced skills. I secured my spot as the number 2 seed. I finished the season with a 17-2 singles record and a 16-0 doubles record, playing with the #4 seed. I pushed myself to work hard the entire season and was able to earn the 1st place Title of the Three Rivers Conference Tournament in Singles. Once the title was claimed, I advanced again to 1A Eastern Regional Tournament. I ended up placing in the top 4 of the 1A Eastern part of North Carolina and advancing even further to participate in the North Carolina 1A State Championship. At the State Championship, I did not make it far, but I did learn that there are always more things to improve in my game. I am looking forward to my senior year tennis season. As for now, I will continue to work hard in the classroom and work year round on my game. Please contact my coaches or parents if you have any questions.
