Personal Statement
I started playing tennis when I was 7 years old. I'm passionate about the sport and practice at least 5 days/week. I've played #1 singles since freshman year for Howland High School in Warren, Ohio, a D1 team. My record this year was 11-5 and I have received All Conference and All county awards. I took #2 seed in sectionals this year in Solon, Ohio, and made it to districts. I lost in the first round, but had the most amazing experience representing my team and school. I enjoy playing USTA tournaments and out of 5 tournaments last year, but played in 3 semifinals, and one quarterfinal. I play club Tennis at Avalon Lakes Country club on a travel team.
I am a dedicated student, athlete, and work had to achieve my goals. My goals include going to a school with a strong premed program as well as play collegiate tennis. Something special that stands out about me is my sportsmanship. My coach, as well as my opponents compliment me on this trait quite often. I keep a positive attitude and fight hard. I have a strong serve as well as backhand. I enjoy meeting new people and get a life not well with others. I am a leader. I feel my attributes would compliment any team.
I am learning to manage my time effectively. I practice regularly, study hard and maintain a 3.7 gpa, tutor students in grades 5-8 8 hrs/week, participate in school clubs and epic teen at my church, and hostess on the weekends.
The most amazing experience I've had is to work with disadvantaged students in a program called Inspiring Minds. Deryck Toles, a former NFL player created this program in Warren, Ohio. I was hired to teach tennis to over a 100 kids during the last 2 summers, as well as be a tutor to over 50 kids currently.
