Personal Statement
Hi! My name is Alex Brown, I am 5'5, 115 lbs, aggressive, and am a very competitive left-handed, tennis athlete. I am currently a Junior at New Braunfel High School in New Braunfels, Texas. I started playing tennis in the 8th grade and I have put every ounce of blood, sweat, tears, and hard work into every practice, tournament, and lesson I have had.
I recently just returned from The John Newcombe Tennis Academy where I trained for a month and won the Newks Academy Invitational. Also during my stay I received the player of the week award and was offered a scholarship to stay for the year round academy. For my senior year I have decided to board at the John Newcombe Tennis Ranch year round academy where I plan to work hard and improve my all around play.
The reason I started my tennis career later than many other players is because I was very serious about competitive artistic gymnastics, training at the Junior Olympic level. To prove to you my competitiveness and dedication, I never gave up on myself in gymnastics and I pushed myself to the limits every single day. My hard work and motivation resulted in the title of Texas State Balance Beam Champion. I may have started playing tennis later than most other tennis players, but I am 110% determined and motivated to do whatever it takes to step onto that college tennis court, kick some butt, and represent the team I am so lucky to play for.
I am very interested in majoring in the field of nursing and hope to become a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. My goal is to earn a tennis scholarship and be a player of the sport and a reliable team mate. Thank you for taking the time to look at my profile and I really hope to hear from you soon!
