Personal Statement
Going to the state final four tournament with my high school soccer team my freshman year was a lifelong memory, but playing in the tennis district tournament my sophomore year was one of my most defining moments. I lost the first match and had to work my way back through the consolation bracket. This required me to play seven matches in two days. My inability to give up and competitive drive pushed me to place fourth in the district tournament and move on to regionals. This taught me a lot about myself and how I deal with adversity.
I have been very fortunate to be on many successful teams in different sports. I have played soccer since I was four and have had success in club and high school levels. While I have decided that tennis is my love, and what I would like to play collegiately, soccer has taught me to be a team player and how to be a good leader (I am the captain of the team.) My successes athletically and academically demonstrate my drive and pursuit to always be improving. I know that I have the work-ethic, the drive, and the character to not just be a good player on your team, but be a leader on your team.
