Personal Statement
In many ways I’m just an average person who enjoys the normal things of life. Yet, I realize I have been blessed with two particular gifts that many others do not possess. These two gifts are academic abilities and running skills. I believe God gave me these gifts for a reason so it is my job to use it to the best of my ability to help myself and others. I would like to use both to achieve my long term goal of becoming a physician.
My more immediate goals are to earn a D1 or DII track scholarship; to graduate from high school with honors (top 10% of my class); and to score high enough on the ACT to qualify for academic scholarships. I realize my parents are committed to funding my collegiate career but my goal is to relieve them of that responsibility and financial hardship. I am aware that my goals may be challenging, but I am willing to do whatever it takes to accomplish them.
My athletic abilities have been demonstrated and documented in the Alabama High School Athletic Association. I hold three school records and I am top 10 in the state 7A in the 100 and 200. I earned all-state in the 4x1 and 4x4 relays. My personal best times in the 100 and 200 dash would have place me in the top 5 of 7A 100 and 200 sprinters. I was not able to run due to injury. My times are expected to get better, but they are currently as good as or better than many current college athletics.
I am most proud of my academic abilities. I am in four AP classes and I have met 3/4 of the requirements to graduate as valedictorian.
I am a good person, a good student and a good athlete. I would love the opportunity to share my abilities and with a school and coach that will further develop me and help me become a doctor.
