Personal Statement

Currently have signed with Charleston Southern University.

In college, I am looking to become a very successful collegiate runner who has the ability to compete at a high level for conference titles. Running and racing is definitely something I am very passionate about and can say from my heart that I 110% absolutely love to do. I am an extremely hardworking and determined person and I would consider myself to be a very coachable athlete as well.

The majority of the reason that I am where I am today and have seen such consistent improvement in my running is because I work hard. My strong work ethic is what I believe to be one of my best - if not my best - qualities. I'm always willing to do everything possible that is required to achieve my fullest potential, no matter what.  I train for 3+ hours a day, usually 7 days a week. I am a strong believer in the importance of Cross-Training and I incorporate it regularly into my workouts. Strength-Training is also very important to me as well. I lift weights, work on my core, and do plyometric exercises, strengthening and improving every part of my body in order to make myself more successful. All the extra work I put in outside of regular practices, or in the off-season gives me a very competitive edge and helps me achieve success. In fact, many of my coaches throughout the years have referred to me as the hardest-working athlete they have ever coached.

As well as being an exceptionally hardworking individual, I am also a very positive person and have a great influence on my team as a leader and role model. I live my life with a mindset that believes in embracing challenges and seeing them as opportunities to improve. I don't dwell on setbacks or failures, but instead move forward and learn from my mistakes in order to ensure better results in the future.

I'm very excited by the prospect of running at the collegiate level in the future, and I'm looking to being a part of a team that has a positive and supportive environment where coaches and athletes help each other be successful and where both team and individual success is seen as important and is celebrated. I’m looking for a program and school that represents themselves well both on and off the track, and coaching that will help me become the best I can be and preform well for my collegiate team.

Along with running at the collegiate level, academics are just as important to me. I currently have a cumulative GPA of 3.97 and I have achieved a perfect 4.0+ GPA the last three semesters. I take a variety of different classes, including challenging AP and College-level courses as well. In college, I want to have the opportunity to learn about what I am passionate about at a high academic level, so that I can be successful in the years following college. My hardworking mentality comes through in my academic studies as well, and I am always prepared to work very hard to be successful in school and be the very best I can be academically.

My main goal is to continue to grow as a person through collegiate athletics. I’m very excited to find a school and a team I can call home for the years following my high school graduation in May of 2018. I want to be a strong and positive leader and a supportive and encouraging teammate. My positive attitude and outlook is definitely an attribute I want to bring to the college or university I attend, where I can use it to inspire others. Both athletically and academically, I look forward to making my dreams come true, and I can’t wait to make the very most out of the wonderful opportunities that lie ahead of me.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
