Personal Statement
I consider myself to be a highly motivated competitive athlete. I have competed in a lot of sports in High School, but only recently found that running sets me apart from most athletes. I have been a three sport athlete each year at Tolleson Union High School (Freshman 2013-2014 [volleyball, basketball, softball], Sophomore 2014-2015 [volleyball, basketball, track]). I was given the honor of receiving the Varsity MVP award in my first season of track as a sophomore, and as a junior I received the honor of being named the 2015-2016 athlete of the year for my high school. Due to my success in track in the spring of 2015, I made the decision to switch to Cross Country in the fall of 2015 as a junior, where I took fourth place at state competition in my division. I love the direct competition in both cross country and track. I have been fortunate to encounter such success in both cross country and track. At each track meet, I run multiple events to help the team score, for instance at the district meet I ran the 800, 1600, 4x8, and 3200 placing 1st in all four events. Since I am relatively new to these sports, I know that I have so much more to accomplish. I feel that if I can unlock that potential that I have, that I can surprise even myself. I look forward to joining up with a university that can help me achieve the unachievable in both academics and sports.
