I am beginning my 4th Varsity season in Cross Country and was excited to be voted Team Captain. My goal is to work hard and inspire my teammates to excel both individually and as a team. My personal goal is to be the top runner again this year and to place high in the State Championships. This will require dedication and a focus on lowering my PR throughout the season.
Last year's Cross Country season I qualified as an individual for the State meet as well as our team (3rd year in a row) . I was named Runner of the Year and 1st Team All- Southern Arizona by the Tucson Citizen. I was the Varsity Most Valuable Player for my team. I finished 3rd in the "Movin' Shoes Invite Mt. Carmel (San Diego) with a time of 16:29 for the 2.75 mile course (a sub 19 minute 5k) and a 18:34 in the Rattler Invitational 3 mile course. In the Track and Field season I qualified for the state Division 1 final in the 3200 (3rd year in a row). I was honored to win the girl's 2014 track team Coach's award.
I feel that I would be an asset to a college program. I am hard working, dedicated to my team, fellow athletes, and a good student.
Education is also important to me, has I have maintained a 3.88 or above throughout Elementary, Middle School and in High School. I am 39th in my high school class out of 489 students, with a weighted GPA of 4.05. My goal is to attend a 4 year University, continuing to dedicate myself to being the best I can be in all that I do.
In my Sophomore season of XC, I was 1st team all Southern Arizona (Tucson Citizen) and had the second fastest time in the area (18:56 Nike XC Regionals). I placed 16th overall at the AZ State Championships and a team honor of “most improved” from my coach for the second season in a row. My first 2 seasons, I have individually qualified for the State Championships (top 25 finish in Sectionals) as well as qualifying as a team.
This summer I competed for my club team (Tucson Elite Athletic Club) in the 2000 Steeplechase. I placed 1st in the State and Regional competitions, earning another trip to the USATF Jr. Olympics Nationals Competition (my 3rd). I finished 10th nationally while dropping my PR by 15 seconds.
I look forward to continuing my running career in college.
