Personal Statement
Some might say that running is my life. I have to say that in many ways, running saved me. I've struggled with a learning disability all through school. I had to do well in school in order to get to run, and running allowed me to burn off any additional energy that built up during class time. It was one thing I did well, naturally. But as with any sport, an athlete has to have their mind in the game. Without the confidence to do well, it is easy to fail at not only a sporting event, but anything in life. For the past couple of years I have been focusing most on my mental well-being to be a stronger athlete and a better student. Running has helped me with this as well. And this is why the study of psychology interests me. I would love to eventually become a School Psychologist and help other students who struggle because they learn differently. As an athlete, I am not afraid to give 110% not only in the races I run, but in my practices too.
