Personal Statement
I've been playing sports since I was young. Being the only girl in the neighborhood, I always played baseball, kickball, and soccer with the guys. I used to be the weakling among the neighbors, but little did I know this would influence how I played sports years later. My first sport was baseball. I later went on to play softball, and decided it wasn't for me. The game just wasn't fast enough. I also played soccer and basketball, but once I got to high school, I found cross country and lacrosse. I'm built to be a runner, by being quick with my footwork and having the hand-eye coordination I had developed from the years of softball and baseball, I quickly picked-up lacrosse. I have a competitive nature, and I strive to always do my best and try my absolute hardest. I'm individually driven and wish to always improve my game and skills. I measure myself against the good competitors. The demands of competing help me with my personal desire to always do my best. Competing in college will take me to the next level. Exposure to a successful program with other successful student-athletes will require that I build my expectations in the right way. As I grow older I wish to be well-rounded in my experiences, accomplishments, and interests.
My passion is helping the environment. I wish to enroll into an Environmental Studies program and major in Ecology. I hope to advocate environmental sustainability and make a solution for the next generation to promote environmental advances. This is of keen interest to me and I want to build a career surrounding these issues on a global basis. Many people are still apathetic toward the environment, but I wish to be apart of the green movement and its solutions.
