Personal Statement

~~I just want to run.  It’s so simple, so beautiful. I never thought I’d become this obsessed with running when I started just a year ago when I became a freshman at Liberty Ranch.  I could tell you times and titles I want to win in college or titles I have now, but that wouldn’t make very much sense to me. I will never know how fast or successful I’ll become until I achieve it. Instead I will tell you what I will do, not what I want to do. I will work harder than anyone else on the team. I will push myself every day to do achieve whatever I set my eyes on. I will listen to you as a coach and do my best to achieve whatever goals you set for me. I just want someone who can help me become faster, because I haven’t had much coaching, and I know if I had more, I’d become a more successful runner. I know I can achieve and surpass whatever goal I set myself to, and I will dedicate myself to my sport which has become my life, because that’s just what I want to do: run. I will work, day and night, until I become the fastest on the team, because I’m not here to just run, I’m here to become the best, and I won’t stop until I have become that. My list of goals is endless, as is my motivation.  I will be creating new goals and breaking them every day.  People told me, I have good luck, that’s the reason I’ve become successful, and I’m also here to prove them wrong. I am different from other runners because I only have maybe 20 races under my belt total, but my obsession has just begun, and my motivation is stronger than any other candidate. I aspire to be successful in not just running, but in school as well. I’m very busy:  I play competitive and high school soccer, race cross country competitively and for the high school, show horses, participate in FFA, maintain a 4.167 GPA, do Cross Fit, and then try to fit in some track.  I will not stop until I’ve reached my goals, and like I said earlier, I set new goals every day. I would be a good candidate because I’m here to be the best, not just to be a part of the team. I’m here to succeed in my studies and make my study into a successful career, not just to complete the curriculum and graduate. Most importantly, I’m here to run, and I will run my heart out. Guaranteed. Here are some letters of recommendation from my coaches. Thank you very much for your time and consideration, I hope to hear from you!
Courtney Robinson

2 February 2015

Courtney Robinson is a hardworking individual who does not back down from a challenge. I have only coached Courtney for one Cross Country season, but it did not take long for her to impress me. Whether it was watching her push herself up one last hill repeat at practice or seeing her kick at the end of a race for a strong finish, Courtney has proven herself to me as an amazing athlete again and again.
In her freshman Cross Country season, Courtney advanced to the state competition. I had heard about this, a freshman runner making it to state, but I was thrilled when I got to coach her through her sophomore cross country season and have her end up at the state meet again. Courtney was the only runner on our team to advance that far.
Cross Country is not the only area where Courtney excels. She plays soccer for one of the local club teams, is involved with the Future Farmers of America on campus, and keeps up with her school work so that grades have never been an issue. Courtney would be a welcome addition to any team.

Courtney Robinson is a very determined and a hardworking individual who will never back down from a challenge. I have only coached Courtney for one Soccer season, but that was enough to impress me.  She was just a freshman and made my Varsity soccer team. She is the first one to arrive and the last one to leave. Her work ethic is undeniably the best I've personally ever seen.  Courtney has integrity, a strong sense of responsibility, a huge emphasis on quality, strong discipline, and a very strong sense of teamwork.
Courtney has a very sweet demeanor off the pitch.  She is confident, courageous, passionate, and non-judgmental. She maintains a very solid GPA, at or above a 4.0 to include AP and Honors classes.
High School soccer is not the only area where Courtney excels. She runs cross country for the High School, is involved with the Future Farmers of America on campus, plays soccer for a local competitive team, runs with a competitive running team, rides, competes, and trains horses, receives soccer specific training, and  as mentioned above maintains a very solid GPA. Courtney advanced to the state competition her freshman year and again in her sophomore year in cross country (the only female athlete in the school).  Courtney also got the opportunity to play in the Div. IV Section semi-finals in Soccer.
One of Courtney’s greatest attributes has to be her willingness to improve.  She is a relentless hard worker. She will never settle for second best. She continuously asks for more and never will you hear her complain, you will only witness the determination of her completing the task to the best of her ability.
“Be strong when you are weak, brave when you are scared, and humble when you are victorious.”
