Alexa Bates '17 Recruiting Profile

At the age of eight I switched from soccer to track and field, and it has proved to be an extremely valuable decision. Through this sport I have learned the lessons of not only determination and perseverance, but also teamwork, self-motivation, and dedication.

After being a participant of the Junior Olympics multiple times, a goal of mine when I was younger was always to attend the Olympics. Although that may not be a realistic goal now, I aim to pursue the sport I love and run track in college.

I believe that I would be a great candidate for any collegiate track team as I currently have eight years of experience running track, four of which I ran with the Southern California Running Cougars track club. I have been the captain of my team, so I know how to be a leader. However, I also have the ability to take the advice of not only coaches but teammates as well and I am also a very coachable athlete. I  always put my best foot forward on the track and I am determined to be the best athlete that I can be.
