Throughout my years of running, I have gone from small recreational meets to the National Junior Olympics and on to the CIF Championships, and along the way have learned many lessons. Whether acquiring a new skill, overcoming a hardship, or competing on a new stage, sports have taught me that hard work, focus and bravery pay off in the end. Track has revealed to me success I did not believe I could achieve, and strengths I did not know I had in me. I consider my seven races in the CIF-SS Championships as just stepping stones, and I truly believe that my greatest high school moments are still ahead of me. As I move on to my Senior year, I look forward to the successes I will have in my final year of high school, and to the even greater ones I will experience as a part of your team in college.
The right college will let me blend my push for academic excellence with the joy I get out of athletics. I believe that a team can make the good things in life even better, and have faith that this will continue in college. I have always been competing as a tri-sport athlete, and those experiences have given me a mix of skills and strategies, and familiarized me with many coaching styles. Overall, both the victories and the losses have made me a well-rounded athlete with the knowledge to work through challenges. I have been looked to as a team leader because of my humor, inclusiveness and my unwavering belief that my team and I can achieve anything together with the right amount of work. As a freshman, the track coaches voted me the team’s Most Inspirational Athlete, and I am proud to have received my high school’s award for Most Inspirational Athlete this year. In college, I look forward to scoring points for your team, bringing them closer together, and moving everyone farther ahead than they thought was possible.
