Personal Statement
I hated running but I loved winning. That’s the story of my life from first to eighth grade. Eight years straight. I won most of my races. I set new county league records. I was a team captain. On and on yet I kept thinking to myself that I really didn't enjoy running. I was a competitive gymnast!
That all changed as a freshman in high school when I learned that to keep progressing in gymnastics, I would need to be home schooled. I loved school and especially my friends. That was the end of my gymnastics career.
So back I went to running. It was all I knew besides gymnastics. What a difference though. I never worked so hard in my life yet I realized I loved running. I loved being part of a track team where we all worked so hard every day. Our workouts were gruesome, but we all still gave it everything we had to get better.
My sophomore year was especially amazing. Not only did my team do great and won the CIF SS championship, but I also did well. The saddest day of the year though was the day after CIF Finals, when I realized practice was over for the season. I truly felt like there was a hole in my life. It was at that point that I definitely knew I wanted to be a collegiate track and field athlete!
