My goal is to be a college shotput and discus thrower at a top academic college. I have been throwing ever since I was in the 6th grade and I have continued to throw and love it ever since. I have a lot of upper and lower body power as well as speed and quickness which work hand in hand when I throw. Over time, my form in both events has gotten better and better, and I cannot wait to see my technique flourish in college-level track and field. My coaches have told me that I am very coachable, committed, and passionate. I can definitely bring and display these qualities in my future college track team.
I have been a student-athlete-musician ever since I was 4 years old. I've always had a love for learning and I strive to be the best that I can be. In addition to track and field, I play basketball and volleyball, and I swim. I also play the piano, violin, and the cello. I have been in the Peninsula Youth Orchestra for over 8 years, and I went on tour during the summer of 2013 to Prague and Germany. I volunteer at Reading Partners and Aim High where I tutor children and St. Vincent de Paul and Glide Memorial where I am able to provide and prepare food for the homeless. I am also co-founder and co-leader of my club at school, Team HBV. Over the summer, I worked for the San Francisco government, so I have work experience under my belt. I consider myself to be very well-rounded, a hard worker, and a leader. I can bring all of the skills that I've obtained through these activities and incorporate them into my talents and roles in the college track and field team.
