I have a passionate relationship with running in circles. Reminiscing back to the intro of this particular relationship. I'm on the track, adrenaline pumping through my veins. Precipitation is coming down and the crowd is silent. I'm located at the South Pasadena Track and Field Invitational. Kneeling down, looking horizontally across the beautiful lines of the track. “On your mark, ready, set” Boom- the gun goes off. Running as fast as the speed of light, fighting through the pain in my legs. Distance is decreasing, and I can subconsciously hear the timer, “tick tick tick” and all I can think about is setting my personal best. I have qualified this far, and I have never felt so alive.
During that moment, I realized track and field was something I loved doing. It was rough in the beginning placing close to last in every race. However, Today I am one of the top runners in my area, and it has taken years of commitment to have obtained the skills I have now. Running is my greatest talent, it is my passion. I have trained for the past nine years, and it has developed my mind into something special. I run because it symbolizes the fact that time is endless, and it proves that giving up is only an option. It inspires me to stay in school, and to keep striving for everything I aspire to do. I am not Usain Bolt, for I am not Allyson Felix. However, I am great because I have worked hard to have obtained the running skills that I have today. My reason for running symbolizes my educational goals in life. In some cases, I academically struggle, but I do not give up because I know that all it takes is dedication to be successful. Ive had a tough childhood, but I have not let my adolescent struggles bring me down. I plan to graduate college, and attend Law School to become a Lawyer for foster children like myself. I want to make the world a better place, and inspire people to become just as motivated as myself when I am looking horizontally across the beautiful lines of the track.
