My name is Alyssa Dalke and I'm a junior at Liberty High School in Brentwood, California. My main goal is to run cross country and track on a college team. I've been running for three years now, and within those three years I have developed a passion for running through hard work, achieving goals, and bonding with my teammates. I've seen all the opportunities that my teammates who are now running at the college level have experienced through running such as traveling for college races, new workouts and training and team trips. These awesome experiences and challenging obstacles as well as my own love for running has made me want to run at the college level.
Another goal of mine for college is to be able to attend a school and academically perform well. Not only have I been dedicated to running these last three years but I've also been dedicated to keeping my grades up. I've maintained a high GPA throughout my high school career.
I would be an excellent candidate for any team because I'm self motivated, determined, and dedicated to improve not only my times but also to encourage my teammates to improve their times and bring the team closer together as a whole. I feel what sets me apart from others is my heart and determination. In the middle of my sophomore year track season, I suffered a stress fraction and unfortunately was unable to run for the rest of the season. During that time I did everything I could to get better and back to running. I went to a physical therapist, massage therapist, did all different types of stretches and exercises that could help my legs, and iced everyday. Although I was unable to run, I went to every practice, every meet, and supported my teammates. It took five months but I eventually came back and when I did I was so happy to be running again.
