Calysta McKinney '17 Recruiting Profile

I have been running since the 7th grade. I love to run and compete, and as an older member of my team, I try my hardest in every practice to make myself and everybody else on my team a better runner.

I like to push myself, sometimes even past my limits. I like taking challenging courses in school, and also being a part of multiple clubs. Band is one of my favorite classes. I have been first chair ever since coming to high school (in the advanced band), and I intend to keep it like that until I graduate. I also keep my band life busy by taking jazz band, marching band and participating in the fall musical. I have also been selected to play in the Continental League Honor Band for three years now, placing first chair two years ago.

I have also been inducted to NHS. I think that it is great to be able to work with a group and be able to do community service for people or places that need it.

One of my outside hobbies is 4-H. I have been to the Colorado State 4-H Shooting Competition since I started in 2011, for both air rifle and archery. In fact, I was the junior state air rifle champion in 2013 and went to 4-H Nationals this past year in traditional archery. I expect to go again in air rifle soon.

Finally, I believe that I have the attitude and determination to make a great teammate. I care about the smallest details, and I really push for perfection.
