Personal Statement
Hi my name is Alexis Rowland and I am a Junior at Denver South High school in Colorado. I have lived in Colorado my whole life, but I have traveled to New Mexico to visit my family. I live with my mom and my uncle and grandma. My dad is not in my life as much, so I have learned to support myself with the help of my mother. I am an only child who has multiple friends who can be by my side. My skills are working well alone and in a group, communicating with others to help understand a confusion, and obeying rules and given leaders. I like to run a lot on my free time and workout in the gym. I have played volleyball since 5th grade and I have only ran track and hurdles since freshman year of High school. I like the independent sports because I feel that I achieve more and learn more. My goals in life are to finish high school and earn my education, go onto college and please my mother and myself. I want to double major in communicative disorders and psychology. As of sports wise, I want to run track and field and run my hurdle and high jump in college to prove that I am better then everyone thinks. I have health issues and my whole life I have been told that I cannot do most of the things I am doing today because I have one lung. Well, I am better than that and stronger and I want to prove that. I love running and education means everything to me.

Yes. sophomore year I was in American Lit Honors both semesters. This year as a Junior, I am in Spanish 3 honors with a current grade of a B+Are you in AP/IB classes?
Yes. I am in 3 AP classes this year as a junior. Whereas last year I was in 1. I take AP environmental science with a grade of a high D. AP English Language with a grade of a C+, and AP United States history with a grade of a B.Registered with the NCAA Eligibility Center?

- AwardsI was awarded in the South high school Art show of Sophomore year. I am currently in AVID class from freshman year to now to prepare myself for college.
- ActivitiesI draw on my free time which allows me to take classes wen I want. I used to dance for 8 years but I quit for volleyball and track. I performed with the Russian Moscow Ballet Nutcracker show for 4 years during that time. I take Psychology now and I feel that this will really help me commit to my major.
