Personal Statement

My high school career could be summarized in three categories, academics, leadership and service and running. Track has become my second home, and I am usually the last one off the track or out of the weight room. I am constantly looking for ways to improve whether it be asking coach if I can put in extra miles, or extra strength routines that I can do to stay uninjured. I have also attended several running camps to help me bring my training to the next level which include Stanford's Running Camp, the Boulder Running Camp, and Melody Fairchild's Running camp. I am never satisfied with a win, or a lose and use it to push me harder in the following weeks training.

My high school running career can be summed up by how much I have been willing to fight. For example, during my sophomore track season at the State Track meet, I was leading the 800 meter race into the second lap, when I got tripped and ended up falling, and placing 17th. While this may have been devastating to some, I got back up, and finished the race to the best of my ability. I used this as motivation to carry me into my next track season, and train my heart out. Our relays have also been very successful. I have been blessed since my freshman year to anchor  for our 4x800 meter relays. My sophomore year, I helped our team place second in State, by running one of my fastest unofficial splits at a 2:17, the next day in the 800 was when I got tripped. Following that season my junior year, I helped lead the team to a state title in the 4x800 with another unofficial anchor time at a 2:18. When I am running for my team, I rarely crack under pressure, rather I embrace it and use it to propel me further.

My goal for collegiate running is to not only be surrounded by talented dedicated athletes, but to be able to bring and expand my leadership in a team. I also hope to post some fast offical 800 times under 2:12. Finally, hope to make lasting friendships with my teammates that can carry me through life.

Not only am I a hard worker and incredibly driven, I also understand the importance of my school work. I have constantly challenged myself all through my high school career through taking advanced placement and honors courses in areas I am passionate about. Through taking a rigorous course load, and training year round, I have become very diligent with my time management.

I also have a passion to lead. My freshman year I was president on National Junior Society and followed that by joining National Honors Society my sophomore year. I am also heavily involved with student council, through having lead the Spirit group for three years, as well as planning and doing pep assemblies for my high school. My heart also calls me to serve. I have lead and planned several canned food drives as well as a k-12 Hunger Banquet. Through serving and learning many different types of leadership styles, I have been able to take my leadership to my cross country and track team.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
