Personal Statement
Since the summer after 4th grade, I knew that running was going to be a big part of my future. I competed in club track every summer up until the summer before 9th grade, when I decided to stop running because I was burnt out. However, by the time track season arrived spring of my freshman year, I realized how much I had missed it -- the friendships created, the hours spent training to reach better times and distances, the competition. I love running faster, and jumping farther.
For the past two seasons, I have improved my jumping distances and running times so much more than I thought I could, and I can't wait to see how much further I will improve over the next two seasons of high school and into my college career. I remember freshman year my coach told me, "I can't wait to see what else you can do!" - and I, too, am optimistic. My goals this year include breaking into the top 10 triple jump distances at State.
I am driven to achieve academically, as well as athletically. I plan to study biochemistry for a future career in medicine, and build life-long skills of teamwork, communication, and leadership. And, I am excited to join a strong team, be an encouraging teammate, and continue to excel through my collegiate track and field career.
