Hi Coaches, I'm Ryan Taylor. I'm fairly new to the track world, only having started my sophomore year. I originally played soccer and had never thought much about doing anything else. I had always been the fastest on the field and I was curious to try and see if I could be good at track, in any way I knew it would make me faster for soccer. So my sophomore year I tried out for the track team and fell in love with the sport. That first year was one of the most challenging for me, juggling soccer practices, track practices, games, meets, school, and a part-time job. I also had tried hurdles and struggled a lot initially. But throughout the struggles, I was able to fall in love with this sport. I love the personal part of the track, bettering yourself and seeing progress through training, and just the mental game of track is exhilarating for me. I also love the team aspect of this sport, cheering on teammates and participating in relays has helped me keep an upbeat attitude throughout the seasons. The positive environment is addicting and I love the community that track provides. I decided after that year to fully pursue Track, I stepped away from soccer and joined a flag football team to keep me in shape during the offs. I decided to commit myself to track and I work to improve myself every day. This year Hurdles has really kicked off for me and it's one of my favorite events, so far I have a PR of 15.34 which is around 4 seconds faster than my PR from last year of 19.70. I hope to keep improving and can't wait to see where this season takes me. I have already had the chance to run at the Arcadia Invitational this year, and I thoroughly enjoyed being able to showcase my skills and compete against such incredible and nice athletes. I hope to further my track career in college while studying health sciences, more specifically kinesiology, exercise science, or biology, as these areas of study fascinate me. I love to see how the anatomical design of the body affects everyday tasks and functions as well as performance. I hope to possibly use my learnings and implement them into my life as an athlete. I hope that your school can help me in all aspects, whether on the track or in the classroom to pursue my dreams!
