Personal Statement
My name is Hannah Jones and I am in my Junior year at Bristol Central High School. My involvement in high school Cross Country and Track happened almost by accident.
Although I ran Cross Country in middle school, I never planned on running in high school. My interest in running at the high school level began when I met the captains of Bristol Central Cross Country at a local running club the summer before my Freshman year. They provided the encouragement and motivation to join the team. Not only did i join the team, I qualified for a varsity position as a Freshman!
I have enjoyed successes such as; qualifying for Cross Country State Opens both my Sophomore and Junior Year, running at Class L's and CCC's all three of my high school years and being elected Captain as a Junior. Along with my successes, I will remember running an early season race as a captain this year. I ran a 5K race in hot, humid weather; it was the hardest race of my high school career. I got to the top of a hill and ran to the edge of the path to throw up. My coach asked me if wanted to stop but I refused to. I knew I had to continue so set an example for my teammates.
I look forward to continue and grow as runner in high school and pursue running in college.
