Jessica Bohan '18 Recruiting Profile

I am a rising senior at Guilford High School and a three-season varsity athlete.  Running has become a huge part of my high school career and a sport that I aspire to compete in at the collegiate level.  I began running cross-country and track in middle school and have continued along this athletic path.  I am proud of my accomplishments in becoming a varsity runner in both track and cross country since my freshman and sophomore year.  Although I enjoy competing in both sports, I have made a commitment to sprinting and track and field.

Competing and being a part of a team has been a life changing experience for me where I have learned the importance of dedication, leadership, and sacrifice. I am proud to be a part of the Guilford High School track team where my team has already placed 2nd overall in the SCC Division. Individually, I have qualified for states and sectionals for the Open 400, where I placed 6th overall and for the 4 x 400 relay where our team placed 2nd.   Although I have not received the level of focused training at the high school that I will at the collegiate level, I have made tremendous growth as an athlete, showing improvement in all events and races each year.  If given the opportunity to have coaching that specializes on starts, sprints and on how to use blocks, I am sure that I could make even greater improvements in a short amount of time and get to my full potential as a student-athlete.

Along with being challenged athletically, it is important for me to find a school that will also challenge me academically.  As an honor roll student, member of the National Honor Society, and Scholar Athlete, I recognize firsthand the hard work and time it takes to participate in a varsity sport and succeed in school and I am excited about having the opportunity to be a student-athlete and to compete at the collegiate level.
