Personal Statement
Hi my name is Lauren Adams. I am 16 and a junior in high school. I had always wondered what it was like to throw the shot put and discus because my dad threw. One day during my freshman year I was pulling out of the car line when I see the head track coach running to catch up to my car. ''Have you ever thought about throwing the shot put?'' and from there it only went up. I went out that day to toss a couple throws. I threw 28 feet in the shot put. Pretty good for a first timer I thought! So I decided to stick with it. Even though I have only been throwing a year, I have improved by leaps and bounds. I've found out when I push myself, it pays off. That feeling when you reach even a few inches over your PR is amazing. I am very dedicated and motivated to make myself better. I have come so far in a year, and I can't wait to see how I progress and improve. College has been my biggest aspiration ever since I can remember. My whole family has a college background, so they have supported me and pushed me to do my best. I work hard not only on the field, but in the classroom. I currently maintain a 3.4 GPA. I hope to raise it in the next coming year. I am the captain of the girls throwing team at Steinbrenner High.
