Personal Statement
My name is Meredith Brito. I run for Lassiter High School's Varsity Cross Country and Track teams (class of 2015). I started running on the Cross Country and Track team my freshman year. I have lettered scholastically and athletically in both Cross Country and Track each season. I received Honorable Mention for Cross Country each season.
As a freshman, I was named the Cross Country team's Rookie of the Year. During this season, our team qualified for state, and placed 5th overall. I placed 58th individually and 4th on the team. My time of 21:00.03 is in the top 10 times to ever be recorded at the state course in the history of Lassiter High School.
During my sophmore year, I received the ROHO award from my Cross Country team. This award is given to the person on the team with the most determination despite whatever obstacles come their way. As a team, we placed 2nd at county! As for track, I was our team's 3200 runner, while also participating in relays, and other events.
During my junior Cross Country season, I was awarded the team MVP and was voted Team Captain. I am looking forward to a great Track season.
My dream is to attend a great college, contribute to the team's success, and work hard in my academic classes. I believe my qualities of determination, being a role model, and working hard scholastically and athletically, will transition into my college years. My desire is to pursue an undergraduate degree at an academically competitive school with a strong focus in Communications and Journalism.
