Personal Statement
My name is Shelby Hines and I am a sophomore at Kennesaw State University. My personal best in the 400 is 56.4 and 24.8 in the 200. I am a crucial relay runner and am known for fighting hard and coming through for my team. I consistently split in the low 56 range. Since High school my times have stayed about the same and I think that is due to the very limited availability to training facilities (weight room, fields, etc) and the absence of a track on out campus. The track we do use is in poor conditions so we only train on it twice a week. Needless to say, I make the most out of our situation and have managed to maintain and refine my form from high school, but I am striving to push my limits and drop times even further.
I believe that I am a strong power runner that has a lot of potential and talent that needs to be harvested in a program that has the tools to maximize my abilities. I am a leader in the sprint core.We have a young team and coach often counts on me to effectively communicate messages to my teammates.
My major is Exercise Health Science also known as Kinesology at some schools. My current college GPA is a 3.58.I receive Pell grant because I am the third sibling out of my family that is currently in school so my family has financial "need".
My goal is to drop myl times as low as possible. Unless injury is preventing me, I do not want to go a season with out setting a new PR.
