Training

  • Pole Vaulting
  • 5 years
  • I trained the pole vault at Hilo High School for the first time my sophomore year. Because I was focusing on the hurdles as well as sprinting as well, I didn't have much training on the vault. However, my junior year moved to Oahu, and I while I'm currently attending Kaimuki High School, im training the pole vault with 'Iolani High School. This season I've been going to 'Iolani 3 times a week to really focus and train my vault.
  • Cross Country
  • 5 years
  • I have been running and training for cross country since I was in 7th grade. Our training would be 5 days a week. A hill workout on monday and wednesday, a longer run on tuesday, and a medium type run on thursday, with a light taper day on friday, and competitions on saturday. Before competition season started, sometimes we would meet as a team to a far away location (far from the school) to run in a completely new place. I was also part of a sunrise track and field/cross country summer program for 2 summers. We would train 3 days a week to stay in shape for the upcoming cross country season.
  • Wrestling
  • 2 years
  • I wrestled for Hilo High School for 1 year and Kaimuki High School for 1 year. Our practices were long and intense.
  • Hurdling
  • 3 years
  • I've been training the 100m and 300m hurdles since freshman year. Freshman year, I mostly focused on the 300m hurdles because I had endurance from cross country, but then as my form started improving, and my times got faster, I began focusing on the 100m just as much. 2 times a week, freshman and sophomore year, I would start my practice an hour earlier than the rest of the sprinting team to work on my 100mhH. 2 other days out of the week I would add a couple hurdles in the middle of our 300m/400m practice repeats to work on the 300mH.
  • Gymnastics
  • 6 years
  • I was part of a team called BCC YMCA. I participated in this sport mostly for fun, it was competitive, but also pretty relaxed. We would have practices 3 days a week for about 2 hours. I ended my gymnastics career as a level 7.

Additional Sports

  • Wrestling

  • Varsity Team
  • 8th in Hawaii State. 3rd in OIA's (Oahu Interscholastic Association).
