Personal Statement
Hello! I am Alyx Flippin and I am currently a senior at Griswold High School in Griswold, Iowa. I have two sisters and one brother, and a dog named Bane. I fell in love with running my freshman year of high school and have been passionate ever since; I love the atmosphere and camaraderie of the running community. After a great freshman year and sophomore cross country season, I found out I had mono; the infection devastated me. My specific case was a very severe and uncommon one, lasting a full year. Since being cleared, I have simply focused on running solid workouts and slowly increasing mileage. Other than track and cross country, I also participate in student council, youth group, softball, National Honor Society, and have served as an officer for the Iowa chapter of FCCLA (Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America). I love to read and have a hunger for learning new things. I consider myself to be extremely self motivated and hard-working; I will always give everything I have in everything I do. As for academics, I plan on taking an undergrad pre-pharmacy route with a possible minor in Spanish. Thank you for taking the time to view my profile!
