Personal Statement
I began throwing when I was in 7th grade and I have always loved the sport. Track and Field has been my passion ever since I can remember and I wish to pursue my career in shot put and discus at the collegiate level. I also have an interest in hammer, however high schools in Iowa do not accomodate for this event.
I am a hard worker and this shows in my academic, athletic and extracurricular careers. School is a very important part of my life. Five out of my eight classes are advanced for my grade level. My extracurricular career involes DECA, which is an international Business association that hosts competitive as well as informative events. Within my school's chapter, I am a member of a leadership team that is comprised of three people. In the past year, our chapter has grown to be the second largest chapter in Iowa with the help of my peers and me promoting the club. I then decided to take my leadership rolls to the state level by running for Vice President of Hospitality of Iowa DECA, one of five positions of the Iowa DECA Association Officer Team. I was elected as VP this February and will continue my leadership duties during the 2016-2017 school year.
My athletic career is very heavily influenced by my off-season. My off-season training includes weight lifting every day and speed and strength training workouts at Acceleration Iowa (http://www.accelerationiowa.com/).
I have great leadership qualities that I have acquired from being a member of the Indianola Girls Basketball team the past three years. I am very enthusiastic and energetic which brings a very positive vibe to every meet, game, competition or class I am taking part in.
