Tamika Russell '15 Recruiting Profile

My goal is to to PR every year in my college career. I want to make it to Championships and to win! My goal is to be the best runner I can be because my aspiration is to make it to the Olympics and to be a medalist. I have high expectations for myself that I know are not impossible. 

I am a good candidate for your team because I bring leadership, work ethic to work hard, the mental toughness to push when it hurts, the mentality to always do my best and most importantly I am a very coachable athlete. I am a very open minded person with coaches because I want to be greater than my best and because I am open to new ways or strategies to make me a better runner. I am a positive person to be around and to coach because I don't find any learning out of negativity. 

What makes me different from recruits is that I am the person that is a leader by example. I lead by example by working my butt off in practice, going till I feel like my legs can't give any more, because I hate laziness. Leading my teammates through warm up drills and being each of my teammates number one fan, cheering them on in their race even if their dead last I am the team member that encourages till the finish. I work really hard for what I want. I do not want anything handed to me or to come easy because I want to work my hardest to achieve my goals, I want to earn my achievements. Academicly, I am the student that does not turn in late workout or half complete my work. My four years in high school I was a varsity athlete all year round and I was able to maintain a 3.5 GPA or better while taking Honor and AP classes. I am the type of student-athlete that manages time wisely to always give my 100% effort.
