Personal Statement
Hi, my name is Taylor Hammond and I love to wakeboard, ski, read, play soccer and run! I started running in Junior High for my school's track and cross country teams. It was then that I realized how much I love to get out there and just run. My freshman year I was the number two runner on our Varsity team during cross country season. I have retained that placement this year also. As a freshman, I was second in our District meet, fourteenth at State, and a member of a fourth place team at State. In track I ran the 800M and the 1600M consistently. About halfway through the season I was placed on the 4X4 and sprint medley relay teams also. I was District Champion in the 800M and both relays. I also went on to compete in the 1600at State.
It has always been my dream to run in college. I love every part of the sport and I hope to continue on with it for as long as I can. When I graduate Timberlake High School in 2017 I plan on earning my Bachelor's degree in pre-med and then pursue my Master's in either veterinary medicine or sports medicine.
My cross country team has always placed huge emphasis on team chemistry. My freshman year, the upperclassmen made me feel like I was a part of a big family. I think team members give more, achieve more and become more when they are part of a cohesive team. We always help and look out for each other and are consistently pushing ourselves harder for the team! I really hope whatever team I end up running for puts emphasis on team dynamics and chemistry, as I feel it is very important! This year, I have stepped up as a team leader. I assist in workouts, warm ups, cool downs, and stretches. I lead by example and encourage others to reach their potential because "to give any less than your best is to sacrifice the gift".
