Personal Statement
I began running in 5th grade through the Girls on the Run program and my love for running has increased every year since. I’m confident running will be a lifetime sport for my individual health, and I’d love to continue my competitive running career as part of a collegiate team.
I give my best effort every day, in both practices and races, because I believe effort is my athletic integrity. I respect my coaches, applying myself to their instruction. My coaches have described me as being the “heart” of our team; my teammates often thank me for being their most earnest encourager.
I’m equally diligent in the classroom; my work is done on-time and to high standards. I maintain a high GPA, am a member of the National Honor Society, and genuinely enjoy learning. I have a wide array of interests, ranging from biology to photography. I’m an active member of my church and am working at a local running store, as well.
In college I would like to have an experience that strengthens me as a whole person. I’m looking for a school that offers excellence in both running and academics, so that after graduation, I’m equipped to meet the challenges of the real world.
