When I was in fourth and fifth grade, we had pedometers in gym to track our distance running. At the end of the year, who ever had the farthest total distance received a medal. I won for both years. The gym teachers encouraged me to run cross-country and track in middle school, and I did. Sixth grade is the year I realized running is my passion. Over the last five and a half years I have improved my technique and times. With more than half of my high school career over, I still look forward to the new challenges running at this higher level will bring. My family is a big influence on my life. I am a triplet. Being a triplet has taught me many things. First of all, it has taught me how to get along and work together with other people. Being a triplet has also made me a very grateful person. I have learned that when multiple children are born at the same time, one or all of the triplets could die or have disabilities. My family and I are lucky to all be healthy. I don't take advantage of my abilities to learn and be active. I push myself to reach my goals for all of those people who can't. I am very thankful for my family's support and encouragement. It helps me push myself to set and achieve new goals. Running has helped me be more confident in everything I do. I used to be shy and stay in the background, especially in the classroom. Running has given me the opportunity to become a leader. My coaches have asked me to share my experience running at larger races, like state. I also help the younger runners with their technique. I am thankful for the great coaches I have had in middle school and now high school. Running has a major impact on my life.
