Personal Statement
In my mind, the passion to get better and better at what I do never stops. My passion is directly related to my running career and my aspirations as a high school. I began running in the 6th grade and I was by no means a competitive runner. Coming into 7th grade, I knew I wanted to be the top girl from my middle school. I worked hard during the following cross country season. Transitioning into track season, I hoped to lower my PR. I continued to execute every run, never stop, and never falter in a race. That year, I learned to take the race by the reigns and run with it. My eighth grade year, I didn't see as much improvement, but I kept working and going above and beyond into every workout I completed. I earned the MVP award as an 8th grader. Currently I am a sophomore in high school. I plan to continue to lowered my 1500 and 3000m. In regard to my freshman year - I was no freshman phenom, but I never intend on backing down from my pursuit of success. I intend on running faster and faster with each race, and I see no end in sight. I share my passion for running with my passion for music and academics. In short, I was a "nerd" and a "music geek" before I was a runner. I am currently second chair as a oboe player in the highest band at my school while also participating my school's all-state competitive marching band. Amongst all of this, I also focus on my academics, placing in the top 5% of my class.
