Personal Statement
Placing third at the Shazam finals as a sophomore has been the highlight of my high school career. Competing during Covid-19 has helped me grow in many ways. Covid-19 has brought many new and challenging situations to myself and my team. My team finished the 2019 Cross Country season as the runner-up team only to be faced with not being able to compete or have any type of season during the 2020 Track season. I found the determination and desire to continue practicing both on my own and with my team over the course of the summer and fall. Nearly every cross country meet I ran in the fall of 2020 was a different format in a new environment. I learned flexibility and how to adapt to new situations quickly. I was faced with the same situation in the classroom. Learning moved from in person to remote. I am looking for a program that will be a good fit for me athletically as well as academically. I believe I not only have the talent to compete for a college team, but also the leadership, desire, character, and diligence to be a positive influence on your team.
