Personal Statement
My name is Lizzie Deutsch and I have been a competitive runner for as long as I can remember. My love for the sport extends far beyond the satisfaction of running, but running well. I am 5'2 and 115 lbs. I was the 6th runner on our team (St.Charles East High School, St.Charles,IL) that tied for 3rd at state this year. I had a rough freshman year due to knee surgery on my lateral minuscus and a rough sophomore year where I battled through a severe iron disorder. I enjoyed my first healthy season this year, dropping my times nearly a minute with a PR of 18:45 for 3 miles. I look forward to improving further next season and to finding success in the 800 and 4 by 8 in track. My goal is to drop my time enough to qualify for state in track this year. I was team captain as a sophmore and a junior, and I ensured that not only myself, but my team, was working to the best of their ability. I can't wait to improve further my senior year, and hope to continue improving on a college team. I am looking to run for a medium-large school. I am undecided about what exactly I want to major in, but plan on figuring it out towards the end of my junior year. Realistically, my freshman year I would be satisfied with being on a team, but would work extremely hard to be able to compete. I want to consistently improve, and be an important aspect to the team eventually.
