As my Junior season comes to a close I am pleased with the many new achievements I have experienced: State Qualifier, Regional Qualifier, Sectional Champion, All Conference and School Record holder. I have improved in High Jump by 4 inches so far to a new Personal Record and School Record of 5'6" with the help of my coaches and anticipate further increases in my upcoming Senior season. I participated in the 1600 meter relay this year bettering my time by 9 seconds at the end of the season. I finished 13th (31 jumpers) at the Outdoor State Meet on June 6th.
Here is a little background of my years in track:
Freshman year I decided to participate in track rather than softball. I turned to track looking for the passion that I lost through the many years I had played softball. I found I enjoyed running and that it was a sport in which I could form strong relationships with my teammates and contribute to our team. As a freshman I jumped long jump and ran sprint events, including the 4 x 1. My sophomore year I tried high jump for the first time and found that I had a natural talent for the event. After one year of long jump for the track team, I decided it would be better to put time into something that I was passionate about, high jump. I was All County, All Conference, won our County Meet, Sectional Meet and Qualified for Regionals. I have developed a passion for high jump that I haven't had since softball my middle school years. I am committed to improving and continuing to improve in high jump through my college years.
I participated in many different activities and sports so far throughout my High School career, Hancock County Leaders, Junior Class Committees, softball, basketball and track. Along with my commitments to those activities I have stayed committed to my studies, taking AP courses and completing all necessary requirements to graduate with academic honors diploma and maintaining a GPA of 3.39. I am interested in Physical or Occupational Therapy. I desire to attend a strong academic school with a curriculum in that area of study and one in which I can contribute to the Track Program.
