Personal Statement
Hello my name is Valerie Obear, I am a Senior at Hamilton Southeastern High School. It has always been said that I am an overachiever in many aspects of my life, from in the classroom to on the field. During school I strive for the best grades possible, studying when I can and connecting with teachers to improve as well. I push myself in academics just as much as I do on the field because education is very important to me. During practice I dedicate myself to learn or develop in any aspect of throwing whether it be mentally or physically getting the techniques. I take my sports very seriously, asking my coach for open ring time outside of practice and the season, showing up during holiday breaks in order to improve my body and mind, and also collaborating with other coaches or athletes to get more coaching techniques and experiences. I have been a varsity discus and shot put thrower my whole high career and a junior varsity member in wrestling. I believe dedication and motivation are the key aspects in every day life.
During my high school career I have had a job and work 15-20 hours a week, while maintaining a 3.7 GPA. I achieve this through persistence, after school help from teachers, and time management with homework and studying. Having a job in high school is very rewarding and helps develop many skills and habits used later in life. Along with having a job I am apart of many clubs such as Riley Dance Marathon, Math Team, Best Buddies, and choir (though choir is during school we meet and practice outside of school hours as well). Being in clubs is like having multiple teams, each consisting of many type of people. Connecting with people is a strong personality trait that I have and I enjoy connecting with many different types of people, learning and discussing with them.
I look forward to talking with you, message me with any questions or concerns
have a blessed day!
