Personal Statement
I've been running since second grade. I first started running cross country because it was the only sport offered at that grade level, but quickly grew to love the sport. My parents told me they knew right away running would be my niche, and they were right! I remember always looking forward to going to practice after school to run with my friends. As time went on running became more than just going out and running around, I began to want to do better, run faster and harder and make PRs. When I moved from St. Louis, Missouri to Newburgh, Indiana for fifth grade I got a new coach who helped me realize I could be a great runner if I worked hard and consistently toward my goals for both cross country and track. With my passion for both sports, I quickly decided to run in both sports in high school. Through my three years I have run in high school so far I have grown to love running even more. I love the team atmosphere, the way everyone has their own personal goals but come together to accomplish something greater, cheering on and supporting my teammates at practice and meets, the satisfaction of completing a difficult workout, and just the feeling of running with my feet pounding, chest heaving, and ponytail swishing.
Throughout high school I've known that I want to run in college to take my ability to the highest level possible, but running is not my only goal for college. Academics is also a major factor for me. I have maintained my 4.0 through junior year and challenging classes and plan to work just as hard and harder in college on my grades to achieve my degree. I'm the kind of person who is given a task and gets to it without complaining and works till it is accomplished to the highest degree I can achieve. I'm committed, dedicated, supportive, and always looking for ways to improve. I have always had a passion for running and would be ecstatic to pursue it in college to better myself and a team!
