Personal Statement
As a daughter of a career military father, we moved around a lot and so did my friends. I started running for fun in elementary school in an afterschool club. I loved it. I joined the Track team in middle school and realized I had found my niche and a great way to meet friends. The summer after my 8th grade year, I was asked to train with the Jack Britt High School team. My father received orders to move from NC to LA so we moved again. I am now a future graduate of DeRidder High School in DeRidder, LA which is a small town near Lake Charles, LA. I have been a member of the varsity cross country and track team since my freshman year. I enjoy the camaraderie of my fellow athletes, as well as the excitement of competition in high school meets and hope to continue at the college level.
I am very focused on my academics. I have been an athletic scholar since my freshman year with a GPA of 3.75 and a GPA of 3.52 for my sophomore year. I have been taking CP and AP classes maintaining involvement in multiple extracurricular activities such as Girl Scouts, Spanish Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes. I am currently President of Learning for Life's Aviation Post 3093 where, in my spare time, I am studying for my pilot's license and building an airplane.
I am interested in pursuing a career in Political Science and contemplating a career in law, campaign management or criminal psychology. My desire to be the best drives my competition and my running keeps me focused and grounded in all areas of my life.
