Personal Statement
I first got into running, because i was determined to lose weight because people used to jokingly call me "fat". So i began my running career freshman year in Outdoor Track. I ran to be in good shape and i did not really think of doing it competitively. Then sophomore year i quit volleyball and joined cross country because i ended up loving outdoor track and felt like i had potential in the sport. Sophomore year I ran Indoor Track for the first time and really enjoyed it. But unfortunately i did not have a good season in Outdoor because i was iron deficient. But this motivated me to work extra hard in the summer so that i can do really well in cross country. This ended up making me have a successful season in cross country because I've been having huge pr's compared to last year. This all came from hard training because i really worked hard over the summer and sacrificed plans such as going to the beach or the movies just so that i can get running in. Even back in sophomore year preseason of outdoor i persuaded my parents to sign me up for a gym membership so that i can run and lift when the weather conditions were terrible because of snow storms. I think i am a good candidate for their team, because i admire teamwork and team successes. I feel different from other recruits in character, athletics and academics because I work hard in everything I do and not only do i care about winning but working towards the goal that i want my team and i to achieve. My team has done very well this past season, because we push each other to improve our goals and as a team we want the most we possibly can to drive us to success. I help bring positivity to the team, because it helps a team succeed. I did not even know what cross country was before, but now i do not know where i would be without cross country because it makes you feel good knowing you helped achieve a team goal. I am so thankful to be introduced to cross country because this made me grow as a person and showed how important a teammate is to me. This sport is so much more than running and I cannot imagine myself without it.
