Personal Statement
My aspirations as a student are to study Biomedical Engineering or to become a Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon. Math and Science have always interested me in school, but I also enjoy taking care of children. It would be cool if in college I could be coached to improve enough to run at the Olympic Trials. Also, it would be nice to be trained to run competitively after college. As a high school athlete, I train enthusiastically and enjoy pushing my teammates to give 110% and to never give up. I was voted tri-captain for the upcoming year in cross-country and track. The one piece of advice I learned to tell my team is to focus on the process of the race. If my teammates focus just on the end result, they will be nervous and choke during a race. I love leading my peers to success with my easy going yet determined attitude. My teammates tell me I am very approachable because I make them feel comfortable under pressure and I always come up with a creative way to solve issues. I am different than other recruits because I use what I learn in the classroom to improve my performance. Also on the track, I respect and trust my coach. He puts me in any event he needs me to do, which is why I can do anything from the 200m, to the two mile, to hurdles, to the high jump. In the words of my coach, I'll "push through any adversity that [I] may be going through to do [my] very best at all times."
