Ever since I was little I had a love-hate relationship with Track. The sport has run in my family for years between my dad and uncles so it was a given that I too ran. For a while, I felt like I was running for them instead of myself and because I'm a team player I felt like I needed to continue otherwise I'd let them down. Over my four years of running at my high school, I finally found my voice in the sport. For once I could say that I was not only running for others but myself as well. Track and Field has helped me grow as a person in numerous ways. I've been able to support my teammates through their journeys and help them in any way that I can. One thing I take seriously from this sport is being a supportive teammate. I'll always be there to cheer people on in their events and assist by giving them advice and encouraging them during a challenging workout. I take constructive criticism well and try to apply it to my technique so I can better myself. I'm competitive and I'm constantly up for a challenge and I'm willing to do whatever event is needed from me to help the team as a whole. Running track in college is something that I am looking forward to doing and I'm excited to see myself grow and become the athlete I know I can be.
