My name is Gabriela Friel and I am a multi-sport varsity athlete at Weston High school, Massachusetts. I have always enjoyed running outdoors, orienteering, and hiking; cross country has enabled me to fuse these interests with community and competition. Cross country opened the door to track and field, where I pole vault, and run the 2 mile and 4 x 800 relays. To build adaptability, I pair running with as Nordic Ski and swimming in the winter sport season. I’ve been successful at preventing physical & mental fatigue by pursuing diverse sports to increase my overall fitness level each year. I’m a versatile and coachable athlete, bolstering winning team scores by running the 2-mile and pole vaulting at the same meet. I only recently returned to competitive running + track & field after 5 years of study in Switzerland; as such, I feel as though I am just getting into my stride. I look forward to exploring my sport and academic potential further in college.
